Re: what to do with $55?
[ QUOTE ]
Take that $55 and grind it up at $.01/.02 [/ QUOTE ] FTP doesn't have .01/.02 games. As a winning loser at FTP I'd say try them both. I liked the Pot-limit 6 max .05/.10 cash tables. I know people don't suggest entering with the minimum amounts but I think it's a good way to get the feel for the table w/out committing too much at the start. As far as SNG's there...thats where I lost all my money. I was playing the $1 games......won once...cashed a bunch of times.....& thought "Hey...these $5 games have a huge payout" and found out I was overmatched. |

[/ QUOTE ] I do that all the time The thing is I only do it when my bankroll is above a certain level and when it drops back down I go back to $2 games. I started with $1 games and moved up to $2 and now I want to move up to $5 fulltime, but I don't want to deposit again so you've got to be careful you know. |

Re: what to do with $55?
Hi.
If you want to practice proper bankroll management, I would stick with the cash games for now. Only having 55 SNG buy-ins really isn't enough to cover for variance. You didn't mention if the cash games was limit or no limit. If it is a limit game, you certainly have enough (550 BB) to withstand variance in the game. For no-limit, it may be a bit too short. |

Re: what to do with $55?
Ship that 55 over to me and forget about poker. I know just what to do with it. I found the cash games was a better place to start building the roll. However for FTP micro limits that is a bit under rolled by the normal recommendations.

Re: what to do with $55?
Do what I got my roommate to do. He is really good at low limits. I had $11 and gave it to him 8 hours later he had $125 and we split it. Of course he was playing way out of his roll. .1-.2 till he got to $20 then .25-.5 to $50 then some more .25-.5 after entering a $30 Single table (which he lost) then got the cash up to $50 again and entered another $30 single which he came in second then some .5-1 to $125. I then came home from work and forced him to stop.
Oh he also took $1.68 to $173.00 to 0 in the course of 28 hours and $20 to $500 to 0 in another 43 hours. He likes to gamble. These are all in the course of a month. I just need to convince him to not play anything above .5-1 and $20 singles and he could probably average $20-$40 a day. |

Re: what to do with $55?
Didn't read through all of the response but my opinion would be to play $1 sng's until you get it to atleast $100 and then short buy the 10max NL. Those games are all vey simple. The hardest part being playing for so little and keeping patience. I wouldn't normally suggest this at any limit higher than like 50nl but when you get to $150-$175 I would start full buying but be sure to search for good tables when doing that.

Re: what to do with $55?
I would reccomend focusing on the cash games but if you are a complete noob you might be finding yourself going busto rather quick as you probably want a minimum of $100 for that game. Grinding $50 of profit out of the $1 SNGs sounds like a pain tho so I'd probably just dive in to the cash game and take my chances. Even tho the $1 SNGs should be easy to beat, you have a lot of variance in them and they can get frustrating.
I think doing a bit of both and seeing what you like more is your best bet. |

Re: what to do with $55?
just play $2.25+25 sng. people will tend to be more reckless in those than 0.05/0.10 so just playing good hands and capitalising on peoples impatience will do u well. if things go bad u in a sng u can alternatively play tight and just make the money.
