when you play enough poker you just sorta subconsciously train yourself not to care about results and you also sort of just become immune to results in a way. in the same way she isn't devastated every time she busts out of a tourney she isn't going to be ecstatic after winning one (specifically like others have said some random gay razz event). also, germans don't have souls.

Hibachi, no offence, but it's a mistake to assume that other people on 2+2 don't know anything about poker. I've been playing for a living for around 5 years and I still get a buzz out of a big win, and feel like crap after a big loss. And although I don't play that many tournaments I'd be very happy about a bracelet, as would many other pros I know. Just take a look at photos of low-key pros like Allen Cunningham and Cyndy Violette after winning a bracelet - huge grins. These guys really love playing poker for a living and winning a bracelet is the highest accolade in our profession.

Oops, that all got a bit serious [img]/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img] so i will add that a bracelet in razz is, for sure, not as exciting to win as most other ones [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Wow, this thread is really amazing. Most posters here seem to like and respect Katja Thater. In Germany her image is quite different. If you read german poker forums you find that to many Germans Katja comes across as horribly arrogant wannabe poker pro. Even now with two WSOP and one EPT final table under her belt this year alone people call her the Anna Kournikova of poker: good to look at, but useless as a player. Early busts are taken as proof for lacking skill while her recent success is called "upswing". According to lots of male players she only got her sponsorship deal with stars because she`s an attractive woman. Really amazing how perceptions can be different...

Talking of difference: Katja Thater is from the Hamburg area, close to the North Sea. Those people are, shall we say, rather less demonstrative than other Germans. Fazing a "Hanseat" is no mean feat. She tried a LP steal with TT, got raised all-in by Boyer, who had the 2nd biggest stack, and called. Boyer flipped over KK. That got her M below 10, and she went into all-in mode, getting some of it back. But the blinds kept coming up, and eventually her AT ran into AQ. Busto in 5th place. Impressive show, except for that one big mistake.

I gotta wonder here, if a MAN had won this event, and reacted the same way during the winners interview, if you guys would be going on and on and ON about it like you all are doing now with Katja winning this event (and her later reaction to it in the interview), not to mention all the 'she's hot' comments that I never see you guys saing about male players (insert wicked grin here, I couldn't resist that one guys).

Seems to me that just because she's a woman you guys all think she should be all emotional and such about her win.

Point is, I've seen a lot of guys act not affected at all by their win (aka not visably excited), yet I've seen nothing said about them.

Are you guys saying you'd cry, get emotional, and be all over the place in an interview if you won a poker tournament?
