oesd with fd v dark check
Whats your line here? do you take the free card or bet turn?
was the flop raise too much? maybe make it 700 or 800? do you fire on the river if you miss? blinds 25/50 im playing about 3500, villain just covers. im in the hijack with 10s8s 3 or 4 limpers and i limp also. flop Kx Js Qs sb leads for 200, 1 caller. I make it 1000. only sb calls sb checks in the dark and turn is a brick.. hero? |

Re: oesd with fd v dark check
On the flop SB led out into a large field - and then called your big raise, showing you, that he will go through this hand with you ... Why should his decision change as a blank hits the turn?
You made a nice (while imho way too big!!) raise for freecard - and it was successful. Now take it and hope for a spade. If you miss it, check / fold the river. No way to make a last stab on the pot here. To your flop-bet: if SB (who showed real strength!!) would be prepared to fold against a 1000-bet, he would fold as well to a bet of 600. This would be perfectly enough imho to aim both targets - FE or freecard. |

Re: oesd with fd v dark check
My standard play in this spot is to just call on the flop and go from there. The board is super coordinated, all your outs don't necessarily give you the whole pot, and you have very little FE against the SB. This is one of the weakest combo draws you can have since none of your pair cards are good for outs, you could be up against boat redraws if you hit on the turn, and your straight only plays one card so you may split if you hit that draw. Also, even if you do hit and have the best hand you may not get another bet out of villan.
