Re: What top pro has the least gamble in them?
[ QUOTE ]
If the question is "who has the least leaks", I'd say Alex Jacob. [/ QUOTE ] If the question is loosest, I might say Sammy. If the question is best, I might say Chip Reese. ...But the question is who has the least gamble...so I'm not going to answer any other questions. I'll support a Jesus claim to this title, Harrington comes close I think. |

Re: What top pro has the least gamble in them?
action dan is a bigtime sports better. he's probably a nit about it, but he clearly has some gamble in him.
least gamble is probably phil hellmuth. he only ever seems to get involved in prop bets for relatively small sums (for him) and only when he knows it'll get him publicity. also he folds KK preflop against donkeys. |

Re: What top pro has the least gamble in them?
[ QUOTE ]
a lot of the top internet players don't have a ton of gamble to them. sbrugby is one that comes to mind. tc [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] On the last hand, Sammy wanted to "run it" in Omaha for 100K each. This is where each player is dealt 4 cards, which you don't look at, then the flop is dealt. The first person to act then turns one card up. The next player has to beat the card the first turned up. This continues till one person is drawing dead or all four cards are exposed. I said no initially but he said two times he would put up 105K vs my 100K. I agreed and we spilt the two hands which netted me 5K. Then he took all the money he had in front of him, 470K, and said lets flip you only have to put up 450K. I thought a bit and would have accepted if I could easily get more money to Vegas to replace the loss, but I couldn't so I declined. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: What top pro has the least gamble in them?
I sat next to Varkonyi at a tournament, and talked with him some. My impressions are based on that and what I have seen on TV and the Internet.
He seems to have an aggressive TAG style. He knows the percentages and likes to semibluff. He definately will take big gambles in MTTs. He stacks his chips very neatly and knows the correct poker terms. He does not act like he thinks he is some big shot because he won the ME. He also knows he got lucky and is not a top player, and he does not play high stakes. He seems pretty careful about preserving his prize money. You could consider that lack of gamble, but it seems like good sense to me. |
