Two NL200/NL100 hands
I would appreciate some advice on these hands.
1. NL100 9 handed I'm BB, villain is MP and efective stacks are around $140. Villain is something like 25/9/3 and seems decent. Villain opens for $2.75. Everyone folds, I reraise KK to $7,5 (yea yea, raise more). Villain 4-bets to $15, I decide to call. Flop is 644r. Villain open pushes $125. I tank and fold. 2. NL200 9 handed Aggro villain is on button, 30/11/3, I'm BB. Normally I don't pull stuff like this but villain was stealing every chance he got. So everyone folds, villain raises $7 on button. SB folds, I repop to $21 with Q9s. Villain calls. Flop is AKJ with flush draw (not mine), I cbet $25. Villain calls and I get the impression he's not exactly strong. Turn is a rag, I think for a while and check, he checks aswell. River is a Q putting AKJxQ on board. I feel villain has a weak ace, maybe KJ or something like that so I decide to bluff and bet $65 into $90. Spew? Bet more? Bet turn? Check/fold flop? (fold pf...) |

Re: Two NL200/NL100 hands
hand 1: if you call pre then folding flop is a mistake.
hand 2: you get the impression he is not exactly strong? why? sounds to me like you wanted him to be weak. |

Re: Two NL200/NL100 hands
In hand one, you just don't have enough information yet. He could have aces, but he could have AK, QQ, or even JJ. He could be making the small reraise for information of his own. He knows you would certainly reraise with AA since the pot is geting big, and he may expect you to reraise KK as well. Also, he knows he's offering very good implied odds for a call from you, so I'm not sold on him having AA, although it's still a possibilty. If you think he might have aces, I think you need to reraise preflop to 45. If he gets tricky and just smooth-calls with AA, more power to him. If he pushes, you can safely fold getting 2-1. As far as making it 7.5, that's fine.
In hand 2, I don't think a villain with those stats is that agro. His PFR is slightly high, but the 30vpip that accompanies it points to him just being a loose. Against a true 14/9ish tag, repoping with this hand is somthing you need to do often, but against this guy I would just call. As played, the flop is awful for you, since he's shown some strength by calling your reraise. I would just check and fold. |

Re: Two NL200/NL100 hands
Hand 1 I call mainly because this is way way too exploitable if you're going to be folding this regularly. Also see the DLM thread about overbet shoving AK after he 3bet (a little different, but similar in some respects). If you call and are beat here its nothing more than a small mistake.
Hand 2, I would probably 3 barrel AI if I did 3bet in this situation. I mean thats how you play JJ, KK, or AA right? As played the river is a little spewy with the turn check. You're basically trying to rep a hand like AJ going for thin value from what I can tell. |
