Re: New Tiger Hypothectical
me and others have broken 40 w/ just a 7 iron, That being said, and my obvious non-tigerness, I'd say he'd beable to go pretty low, around par or better.

Re: New Tiger Hypothectical
6500 yds one of the better semi private courses in the area, I'm scratch. I'm imagining Tiger playing at the exact same course.
Edit: something that isn't widely broadcast about pros is their unbelievable distance control. My friends Uncle played on Jeff Slumans college golf team and he said Sluman used to play practice rounds with one club to learn how to hit it all distances. Having one club wouldn't be as big a deal as some might think from the fairway and w/ in a distance they can hit that club. |

No way he would be scratch with one club. [/ QUOTE ] I think he'd be scratch. I(+3) used to play many rounds(course rating 73.5) with just one club with a friend (2 hdcp). Each of us could break 80 on a good day. (in less than 2 hrs.) I'd say it added app. 8 shots to our scores. The thing is, with one club, you don't get in any trouble. No penalties. Very few bkrs. And putting ain't that big of a deal. I'd putt most 10 hdcps. with a 7 iron for money. And Tiger is the best ever. |

Re: New Tiger Hypothectical
I think length wouldn't be a very big issue for Tiger even if he had a 7-iron.
I watched some "Drive, Chip, Putt" championship for kids a few years ago and they paired the kids with a pro. The kid hit a driver and the pro hit an 8-iron. One kid got paired with John Daly, Daly hit the 8-iron 275 yards. I would imagine Tiger could either close the face or intentionally hit it thin and hit the 7-iron 240 consistently. |

I can only think of two courses in my area that I might be able to break 40 with just a 7 iron and it would certainly take me many tries. I just imagine there will be too many shots that are completely dead. A lot of my courses have elevated greens with slope where you need a lofted club to stop the ball around the greens. It definitely depends on the course but I'll take your word for it if you say it can be done. |
