The first place gets "credited" with a much bigger win and thus bigger tax liability, right? Is this somehow worked out in advance? Can the three players go to the cage together and get W-2G's reissued for the same amounts?

At the 2004 WSOP Raymer made it well known to the other players he wanted to chop even at 5 handed. I donno if it ever happened though.

No sorry, he let players know (before the final table) once 5 handed he was interested in choping. Maybe he changed plans after he steamrolled the table.

I thought I remebered Grey posting that he did NOT want to chop at anytime because he was steamrolling the table, and that the other players didn't bother discussing because they also realized he would not agree to anything much under first place money. It's probably in a old post somewhere if someone wants to dig.

Please remember. I didn't specify it though Raymer had told all 9 players that down to 5 handed he would like to talk about a chop.

Then raymer owned the table. At that point I don't think he talked chop. The person who told me this, was at he final table with him, although he didn't last untill the final 5 so short of raymer or someone close mentioning it thats as much as I know.

Only one could asume that Raymer's steamroling made choping at least 5 handed -EV if he didnt get the lions share.
