Stuey. By a longshot. And even with my nostalgic reasoning I can look at comments made by Mike Sexton who knew Stuey very well and said that had Stuey lived and kicked his habits, he would be the dominant poker superstar today. Of course it is speculation, but I can easily see Stuey having won another ME in the early part of this decade.

Another vote for Stu Ungar. Aside from winning 3 ME's (and i believe he made it really deep into another ME but didn't show up or something after the second day and was blinded out into the money)...not to mention his wins in the now defunct Amarillo Slim Superbowl of Poker.

Anyone that can check behind on the river with a boat when the other player has CLEARLY hit runner/runner for quad K's is clearly playing on a far high level than some punk like Ungar or Brunson.

LOL at people giving weight to WSOP results in determining who the best player to win the series is.

What about Harrington?

Wins it all, 3rd in 2003 and another 4th or 5th in 2004

I think that's pretty impressive he won in a small field of Pro's and back to back final tables in large fields.
