[ QUOTE ] Watching the US open and here are some thoughts on ways to improve the game. First put snipers in all the TV towers. If you yell "your the man" [/ QUOTE ] It ESPECIALLY bothers me when the guy yelling it uses the possessive pronoun "your" instead of the correct contraction "you're". [/ QUOTE ] Tuq the nit? |

Have Johnny Miller beat Bob Costas to death on-screen with a sand wedge.

Re: Changes to the PGA Tour to make it better after watching The US Op
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not fully committed to this one yet, and it may just be me.... Why the hell do they make the US Open "Who can stay 4 over after 4 rounds"? It might just be me, but I don't get a lot of entertainment watching the best players in the world play a course so hard that a round of 1 under is sooooo amazing. [/ QUOTE ] Would you rather have a course where long hitters can drive every single par 4 in one and every 5 in two? If so, watch one of the hundreds of other tournaments out there. I think its interesting to see these guys in tough spots so often. You get Mickelson hitting from a ditch into the rough a club's length away, and you get Baddely (I think?) looking like he's hitting a fastball and getting on the green, so its a bit of a crapshoot, but its entertaining. To me, whether the score is over- or under-par doesn't matter, because the absolute value doesn't determine who wins, the relative value does. So it comes down to whether you like seeing a bunch of hits out of deep rough and tough putts, or whether you'd prefer on-the-green in one and four good eagle chances every round. The thing I dislike most about it is when the greens are really over-the-top ridiculous. Sometimes it seem like they may as well go all the way to putt-putt golf and put the cup on the top of a little volcano. Having a landing area of 3sq yards makes me roll my eyes sometimes, but overall I like how tough the Open plays. |

Watching the US open and here are some thoughts on ways to improve the game. First put snipers in all the TV towers. If you yell "your the man" "in the whole" "Go Tiger" "waht a Drive" and its a brutal dive Shoot the individual through the forhead. [/ QUOTE ] You're being too kind. They should round these retards up, line them up about 5 yards off the practice tee and let the pros unload on them. |

Maybe its just to give hackers at home hope for their game, but this is also the tournament that anybody at all can try to qualify for. Hey, congratulations, you're in the Open - now go try to shoot just 10 over for Thursday and Friday or you're going home. [/ QUOTE ] I don't see why this is a big deal. The ultimate goal is to play 4 rounds of golf in as few strokes as possible. The +/- is just an easy way to keep track of it. I didn't get to watch much of the Open, but I like watching the best play the toughest. |

Golf is great when every shot is vital and every shot requires skill and planning. Nothing is lamer than seeing the leader win -20. Awesome, you are a good player on an easy course. |
