Re: the way the poker room near me in florida is gonna do it
i hope that jckc comes to their senses and decides that a 2-5 no-limit game with a max buy-in is really idiotic but then again they have a game called raise or fold where there is no checking or calling. You must raise and reraise to play the hand to the end. It all boils down to that florida sucks and I must go either back to ac or biloxi or even vegas to live.

Re: the way the poker room near me in florida is gonna do it
So you said they are going to spread 1/2NL and 2/5 NL? While I agree with you that the 2/5 would be really stupid with $100 max, it just won't really be an isssue if there is a 1/2 game spread also. Very few people will play 2/5 and they will end up going to all 1/2 games for NL. Now if they are going to spread 2/5 and not cap the game at $100 that would be a different story and I will be there all the time. I will have to go over there and play one of their crazy games this week just so I can find out what is going on for myself.

Re: the way the poker room near me in florida is gonna do it
First, why does everyone keep saying $100 max?
The law as written says nothing about a MAX buy-in. Here is the passage from the bill concerning No-Limit "However, a cardroom operator may conduct games of Texas Hold-em without a betting limit if the required player buy-in is no more than $100." Requred player buy-in is the MIN not the MAX. When I talked to a floor last week, they were thinking of a $40 Min buy-in with a $200 Max on a 1/2 NL game. The law is written so bad that rooms will push the wording of the law at first and things will finally settle down after it ends up in court. |

Re: the way the poker room near me in florida is gonna do it
I know what the law says and also know what they intended it to say. I am guessing ,as are many others, that most of the small para mutual cardrooms will adopt the conservative approach and wait for the casinos to push the envelope and and allow for buyins more than $100. I do hope that I am wrong and we will see bigger games on July 1 at every cardroom in FL. I would love to see a 2/5 NL $500 max or something. I emailed a local poker room about what they intend to spread but have gotten no response. At what room is floor talking about a 1/2 $200 max? If they do do that there is no reason they can't spread a 5/10NL game. I am very interested to see how this plays out.

Re: the way the poker room near me in florida is gonna do it
It was the Jacksonville Best Bet. But they are still thinking and have not decided which games they will spread yet.
And it really doesn't matter what the law intends, it is only what it says. But the bill still needs to get past the governor and as of Friday it had not even been sent to him yet. |
