I guess its the standard "it depends" answer. Do you have any other info on the guy? Any range you can put him on? I don't play many rebuys and I'm sure that changes the thinking, but he might feel pot committed at that point too so if you play you might have to be prepared to put in 7k.

By stick'er in, do you mean call or put villain all in? I'm thinking the call has better +EV, but putting him all-in keeps him honest if he was trying a late position steal.

Re-raise to 3000 if he seems like a loose player that opens with hands like Ax or KQ in that position (if he re-raises all-in probably you have to call);
Fold if he seems like a tight guy that usually plays high pairs or AK/AQ. I don't like to call in this situation. It only works if you flop a flush (or a flush draw) or something like AJx. If you call and the flop comes with a Axx, you can be against a better kicker and lose the 7k and if the flop comes blank you will have to fold to a bet. So I think the re-raise before the flop is better. The all-in before the flop it's also good, but I don't like to commit more than 1/3 of my chips with AJs when I have the option of getting rid of my opponent with a smaller bet. |
