Chicken Fried Steak was my first possible choice - without even looking at a menu. Dumplings sound like they're a "must-try" item so I'll probably take my chances with those as well.

I will say I'm surprised by the support/response so far for the Cracker Barrel. I expected the discerning palates of OOT to tell me I'm screwed cause the food sucks.

Depends how high the cook is.

I like the country morning breakfast. the quality of grits at cracker barrels throughout the country varies wildly though. the biscuits are always good, never great. get colby cheese on your eggs if you get eggs.

The hashbrown casserole is da bomb!

Can't go wrong with the country fried steak either.

Wow, I've never been to one, and I don't know of any in the Boston area. Do they fry everything? If you get take out do they deep fry the bag too?

Because I just happened to read it.

From Chuck Klosterman's "Killing Yourself To Live"

"Cracker Barrel is sublime: You can order chicken and dumplings with a side order of dumplings. That's advanced."

Make sure to get some of those strawberry shaped candies in their store section. You'll thank me for it.

Hashbrown casserole is a must (hashbrowns, cheese, onions...mmmmmm, I'm hungry now)

It doesn't matter what I order, I get the hashbrown casserole with it.

Omg this means istewart doesn't read my blog.

I'm about halfway through.

I'm liking it so far, but Klosterman is getting on my nerves a little bit as he's just a little too self-aware and non-judgemental.

Also, I'm not a big rock guy, so the music stuff (Radiohead) doesn't mean a ton to me, but I love his writing.

I think it's good, but Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs is a lot better.
