100 NL Line check: should I overbet shove this river for value?
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1179361
It's 100 NL at Absolute. I'm a regular, villain's an unknown. I've only been at this table about 30 minutes, though, so I'm not sure what his image of me is or if he's paying attention. Four-handed, I pick up JJ in the small blind. Villain button-raises, I re-pop, other two fold. When the flop comes out KK4 rainbow, I make a standard c-bet of 2/3 pot or so. I would almost always do this, including when my hand has a king. Villain calls, and I'm at this point scared of AK, KQ etc. Turn is my gin card, making me jacks full. Of course I fire again, again about 2/3 pot, expecting him to dump most hands. When he calls turn I'm almost sure has a king in his hand. AA, QQ or 10-10 are also possibilities I consider, but it feels like flopped trip kings being slowplayed. I suspect he's not full since there's no raise on the turn, so I don't think it's 4-4. The river is a blank. There's $37 in the pot and villain has not quite $50 behind. I end up value betting $25, sure I'll get called by AK, KQ or K10, and hoping these hands will raise all-in based on what's in the pot and stack size. Should I have overbet shoved him in for value knowing nothing about villain, figuring almost nobody's folding trip kings here? Or is a smaller value bet better? |

C'mon - raise more preflop. Bet more than 1/2 pot on the flop, bet way more on the turn. So river should be an easy push. Villain has either a King or a smaller PP where he most likely folds the smaller pair to any reasonable bet, but will surely call any bet with any king.
