NL50- KK vs Limp/Raise
2nd orbit at this table. 1st orbit we played 6 handed an villain open raised 4 of the hands. I have played one hand so far in which I raise, c-bet, then c/f the turn.
I am NOT folding here, but I'm curious as to thoughts on what my plan should be for the rest of the hand. Should I re-raise here or just call? Also, FWIW I tanked here for a while trying to think about this, so villain might draw some conclusions based on my timing here. Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $57.30 UTG+1: $49.50 MP1: $106.15 MP2: $58.80 MP3: $30 Hero: $45.25 Button: $51.25 SB: $49.50 BB: $50 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2, folds, MP3 (poster) checks, Hero raises to $3, 3 folds, MP1 raises to $9, MP3 folds, Hero ???? |

Shove. [/ QUOTE ] I hate shoving, inviting him to fold everything we beat. I'd just call and get it in on any non-A flop. Make him think you are weaker than you are. If he has AA then it's just a cooler. |

Shove. [/ QUOTE ]Doesn't this make our hand really transparent? As in, we fold out a lot of stuff an agro player might overplay, but def get called by aces? |

Re: NL50- KK vs Limp/Raise
jeff,
It does make our hand sorta transparent to good thinking players if they know how we play, but against a random unknown it's best to get it in now as theres a lot of hands that wont call any bets after the flop that might be willing to get it allin now ie a,k ui, or j,j-2,2 on a queen high board or something. It also blows if you call and he's doing this with a worse hand and c'bets on a-high flop making us fold the best hand. |

Re: NL50- KK vs Limp/Raise
He may call a shove with a worse hand if he thinks you are playing back at him. It is hard to say if that is what he is thinking though.
I don't mind calling and then raising AI on any non-A flop. He may be thinking you are weak enough to fold this preflop just because of that one hand, hence his l/rr. I think this guy is going to c-bet nearly 100% and call with almost any PP that he is pulling this with(KK-77 or less). I wouldn't expect AA too show up here much since I would assume an aggressive player would want to make sure he raises that. |

I would assume an aggressive player would want to make sure he raises that. [/ QUOTE ]I would too. Against most players a limp/raise means aces 90% of the time, but this guy had no expectation of being raised (this was a table full of nits). If he has aces here, well then thems the breaks. I just didn't want to take away his rope I wanted HIM to be the one to get it all in. Anyway, because I kind of suck at poker this is what I did: Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $57.30 UTG+1: $49.50 MP1: $106.15 MP2: $58.80 MP3: $30 Hero: $45.25 Button: $51.25 SB: $49.50 BB: $50 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2, folds, MP3 (poster) checks, Hero raises to $3, 3 folds, MP1 raises to $9, MP3 folds, Hero calls. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($19.25, 2 players) MP1 bets $8, Hero raises to $25, MP1 calls. Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($69.25, 2 players) MP1 bets $12, Hero calls all-in $11.25. Uncalled bets: $0.75 returned to MP1. River: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($91.75, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $91.75) Results: Final pot: $91.75 MP1 showed 9c 9d Hero showed Kc Ks Yeah that flop bet kind of sucks- I felt like pushing was an overbet and this stupid bet might look like one last gasp at buying the pot (leaving $11 behind is expert). I spent forever trying to find a bet size, finally I just typed in $25 because time was running out and I couldn't find anything I liked. Truth be told, what I did probably didn't matter, but next time I'll just shove PF or on the flop. I still think he could have gotten away from 99 PF if I 4bet him. Anyway, exhibit 1 in how to over-think a hand. At least I had a good result (with a small heart attack on the river, obv). |

LOL at me being wrong about him willing to get it in with an underpair on a queen high board.

LOL at me being wrong about him willing to get it in with an underpair on a queen high board. [/ QUOTE ] I think he was trying to represent the flush. Like I was going to fold my last $11. The best part about this hand was that I actually left a table to play on this one because I'd have position on this guy and his big stack (I'm single tabling until I stop sucking at poker- this hand does not qualify). I don't remember if I saw him play agro when I was scouting tables (I was having trouble finding a good table and switched twice before getting on this one), but I did have the impression for some reason that he'd be a good guy to have position on. The beat here is that I was about to re-load another $5 but was one hand to late. |
