Default How do you play this river?

20-40 live 9 handed. I have a tight image.

UTG raises(He has AQ+ TT+ KQs..He is very straightforward postflop.. if he bets he has at least top pair, he likes to slowplay big hands(he thinks he is clever but is actually losing a ton of bets in many situations). two players call and I call in BB with 9dTd.

The flop: Ac8d4d

I check, UTG bets, MP calls, and I call.

The turn: Ac8d4dAd

I bet, UTG just calls, mp folds.....I am 95% sure UTG has an ace since he wouldn't have bet the flop with less.If does have an Ace it is either AQ or AK. The three diamonds on board and my lead I am sure have scared him into not raising.

The river: Ac8d4dAdQc

Do I bet-fold, bet-call, check-call....I don't like check-raise here.

bet/call the river

Why no c/r on the turn? Would this guy really check it through? (scared of a flush, or moronically 'slowplaying' his trips?)

I agree that a check-raise was probably the play on the turn. UTG tends to be both passive and tricky so at the time I was afraid he may do something dumb and check and allow MP to catch perhaps a higher diamond on the river. UTG is the type who would say "I didn't bet the turn because I thought one of you had the straight".

is the reason you can't c/r the river because he'll check behind AK?

if c/r is no good for some other reason, then bet/call is def no good... so i would say bet/fold... but i'm sure u can fold to a 3bet on the river.. so i like c/r.. but you have a read and i would go with that...

Villain is betting 90% of your stated range(everything but KQ?) on the turn. You can trap MP in after he calls. I see no reason not to C/R the turn.

I do like a donk/3bet attempt heads up though.

Yeah donking the turn here wasn't the greatest especially for the reasons given. If MP has a high flush KdQx hand then you betting out isn't doing to make him fold. The only hand you get a fold from is one that you want calling anyway. As played bet/call, I see no reason to dump this hand to a 3-bet.

As played, c/r the river is no good; you're hand seems slightly obvious because of your donking the turn; bet/call the river.

I definitely like c/r the turn; you trap the mp villian into atleast one bb; also, it makes it easier to bet/fold the river - your hand is obvious, if he raises you on the river you are beat
