Default 2nd Barrels

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $25.00
Hero (BB): $37.03
UTG: $41.60
CO: $31.85
BTN: $24.20

Reads: This is obviously just a dumb little hand but it brings up a situation that always perplexes me, firing 2nd barrels. I've got to think firing off a lot of cbets and shutting down when called is -EV.

Do I need a weak-tight read before I bother? If someone only folds the flop 50% should it be my standard play?

What do fold percentages really mean?

80%+ sticking around with TP or better?
70% sticking around with 2nd/3rd pair, good draws?
<50% sticking around with god knows what?

Anyways, no reads here villain just sat down.

As played I think I should have just folded the turn, but I'm wondering if a 2nd barrel would be appropriate. I mean the villains range is huge, and he has yet to show strength with his limp/call/call line.

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players)
2 folds, BTN calls $0.25, SB folds, Hero raises to $1.50, BTN calls $1.25

Flop: ($3.10) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $2.00, BTN calls $2.00

Turn: ($7.10) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $2.00, Hero calls $2.00

River: ($11.10) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $4.00, Hero folds

Pot Size: $15.10

Why did you call the turn? I think it's very marginal.

I know my play was stupid here. I think a lead, c/r, fold are all better than my call here.

I'm looking for 2nd barrel advice in general.

Your hand is a very bad spot for a second barrel.
Just fold.

It depends on a couple of things, reads and board texture. Generally I don't do it very often at this level as players dont tend to float, therefore if they call flop, its likely they'll stay around til river fairly often as they have some piece of the board. In the hand above, the board texture wasn't great to c-bet on (no face cards) and once villian calls there, I definitely give up on that turn.

They dont "float" like a good player might - but do they do call flop bets a lot with air/overs/whatever. And though they maybe didnt plan to, some of them do bet when they sense weakness.
