6 Turbo SNG, FTP, playing a two big draws early vs a big pair
Kinda newish posting here, how poorly did I play this? Second hand of the Turbo SNG, no reads, the first hand the raiser played was nothing special and not shown down. Thanks in advance.

Re: 6 Turbo SNG, FTP, playing a two big draws early vs a big pair
when you convert the hand make sure you select 2+2 forums
as played i probably just call the bet and raise and try to see the next two cards cheaply. |

Re: 6 Turbo SNG, FTP, playing a two big draws early vs a big pair
Definitely best to just call here. Saves you money if MP2 just calls but also potentially makes for a bigger pot. If you push, MP2 might fold; if you call, he might raise. You don't want people out of this pot, because if you make your hand, you're almost certainly going to have the best hand.
Obviously, if you call and MP2 pushes, and SB calls, you have an easy call, too. As others have already said, fold pre-flop (A2s is not even worth playing unraised at this level) and check the flop. |

I don't mind calling a min-raise from the big blind as long as you can get away from the hand with only top pair.
as played, check/call smallish flop bet and re-evaluate on turn. |

Re: 6 Turbo SNG, FTP, playing a two big draws early vs a big pair
this is an interesting hand. it all depends on the range you put villian on.
calling pre-flop is marginal, but it isn't outright wrong. when you flop a nut flush draw, a gut draw and an over card, that makes for at least 13 outs (discounting the 3 overcard outs to 1). therefore, nothing wrong with leading out on the flop for 2/5 pot. when it comes back around to you, there is 790 in the pot with you needing to call 330 to stay in. that is 2.4 to 1 pot odds. with 13 outs, is this a call? even with 12 outs, is this a call? you could be up against a set which is very bad. but more likely, you are up against a weaker flush draw, or an open ended straight draw, an over pair like 99, or even TPTK A8 at this level. i think that pushing all in here is ok. what is your fold equity if you do that? not great, but definitely more than 0%. plus, even if called, you have a pot of 3200. therefore you end up having a decision to make of putting in 1370 more to win 3200. this is 2.33 to 1 odds. that is just about right with 12 outs and two to come. now you must factor in a small percentage of fold equity. and then you have to balance in the possibility of losing to a redraw if the dude has a set. it all comes down to the probabilities that you put on those two events. close, interesting decision! nice hand. |
