Re: 3 barrels of fun
Orange, what do you do if you hit your Q or A on river? Smaller value bet?

Re: 3 barrels of fun
You must 3-barrel air some of the time. This is a good spot since his hand looks like a medium pair, and I'm assuming you'd play a big pair the exact same way.

Like, pretty much 100% of the time I 2-barrel AK, AQ or KQ on type of board I'm firing huge if the river is an A, K or Q and a smaller (but definitely non-zero) percentage of the time if it bricks. |

Re: 3 barrels of fun
Orange,
I likt it with a nice solid read. Against players who at least think a little bit, your range should be very narrow, probably TT+. When I have AA in this spot, I often find that people fold the river, but not flop or turn. Howver, calling stations obv call you down on three streets, since they only look at their own cards and don´t care what you´re representing. So, with a read that the other guy is TAG and not too bad or tilting, I think this is nice play. |

depends a whole lot on how villain sees hero. The TAGier, the better ldo.

Re: 3 barrels of fun
everyone assumes his range is only pocket pairs... why? cant he just as easily have 45s/A4s as well? he has posisiton and youre firing into him strong on a completely safe board (safe for him) so he wouldnt neccessarily be raising anywhere yet.
and what pocket pairs does any self respecting tag LIMP on the button??? maaaaaybe 22-77? so i would have to put this guy on exactly 66/77 to fire this river personally. and theres no way i can narrrow his range that much. if flop wasnt paired id like it a lot more. just saying... |

Re: 3 barrels of fun
If I had QQ+, I would two-barrel and check the river.
Because no worse hand would call a river bet: better hands would call or raise; and a daring river bluff raise might make me fold. By check-calling I'd minimize losses when behind, and crack a river bet made by a worse hand. But, if your opponent *knows* than you are able to three-barrel such high pocket pairs, then it is fine, IMO. |

Re: 3 barrels of fun
The problem I think is if you're going to bluff here, you'll need to fire all 3 streets for him to consider folding. I think timing tells might help. I definitely do this against weaker players, and I think it could be much more difficult with TAGs, since some will call all 3 streets.
What about an overbet shove here? Even most TAGs who call down light here will insta-muck to that much. Nobody seems to overbet bluff at these levels. |
