Re: mike brown worst coach ever to make finals?
[ QUOTE ]
The Cavs suck [/ QUOTE ] LOL Brown is probably the second worst coach to make the Finals recently, with Larry Bird being the worst. I don't think he's that bad but most of the coaches who've made the Finals recently have been great. |

Re: mike brown worst coach ever to make finals?
[ QUOTE ]
1) hugehs over gibson. really no excuse here. its obv to everyone that gibson is better than hughes even when larry is healthy. now huges injury takes aways his best attribute, athleticism and defensive ability. mb still refuses to make the switch. [/ QUOTE ] Game 1 Hughes 23 min, Gibson 28 min Game 2 Hughes 20 min, Gibson 32 min Game 6 V detriot Hughes 28 min Gibson 29 min Game 5 Hughes 29 min Gibson 30 min Game 4 Hughes 16 min Gibson 35 min Gibson, being a rookie who averaged 16.5 min during the regular season, wasn't going to get any more mins that that from 90% of head coaches. Basically it was a choice between Hughes and Snow/Jones, not between Gibson/Hughes. Gibson played well off the bench, and Mike Brown expanded his mis mins and opportunities while altering his role as little as possible at the same time. [ QUOTE ] 2)benching lbj with fouls. game 2 spurs go on like 15-2 run. game 3 lbj gets his 3rd fould midway thru the 2nd and again he benches him. learn a lesson? pattern recognition? no no. spurs immediately go on another run. situations was even worse bc duncan wasnt on the floor, so lbj can get to the rim and cavs can be the ones making a run and take a large lead into the half. take a freakin chance. [/ QUOTE ] A totally un winnable situation for Brown, once Lebron picks up those fouls hes stuck. If he benches him and they lose hes an idiot, if he plays him and he picks up fouls hes an idiot. That's a situation where both options look bad. Lebron wasn't going to get 48 mins in the game anyway, sitting him for 8 mins in the first, or 8 in the second doesn't make a huge difference. [ QUOTE ] 3) all around horrible offensive coach. cavs have no spacing, no movement and no passing. notice how many times they are stuck with a horrible shot with clock winding down. [/ QUOTE ] What do you want from him, miracles? Cavs win on their defense, it took him a year and a half getting them to play good team D, if at this time next year their offense isn't improved then you talk about how he can't coach O. |

[/ QUOTE ] He's averaging almost 45 minutes a game in the playoffs. He only played 38 minutes that game. That's a big deal. As for the situation being unwinnable: baloney. That's only true if you consider being mocked by retarded pundits "losing". Not yanking your star player their is definitely the right play. If he picks up his 3rd, so be it. If you do yank him, you yank him for 3 or 4 minutes, not for 9 minutes. He finished the game with 3 fouls! Coaches do this all the time. Panicking about fouls is to NBA coaches as punting is to NFL coaches. |

Re: mike brown worst coach ever to make finals?
I don't know enough about Mike Brown to really say he is that bad, but I think just because he's getting his ass kicked by the Spurs means jack crap about his coaching. If you can't figure out that the Spurs are leaps and bounds above the Cavs, (or that the West is leaps and bounds above the East as well) then you have problems.
So far everything complained about would not have led to a victory for the Cavs anyways. The Cavs are simply outclassed. |

but they're still egregious coaching errors. He made a bunch in the conference finals, too.

Yep, ol Flip really outcoached him. Is that why the better team won? [/ QUOTE ] isn't flip notorious for getting outcoached in seven game series.... has he even ever won a series where he wasn't a big favorite? |

Re: mike brown worst coach ever to make finals?
Gibson should be playing 35 minutes a night, but yes I'd rather have Snow/Jones/Pavlovic playing instead of Hughes. 23 minutes is a lot of minutes to waste on a hurt guy who isn't even good when he's healthy.
"Cavs win on their defense," This is only true because Brown is such a terrible [censored] coach. They've got a ton of offensive talent, but he refuses to use it because he's a goddamn idiot. |
