Re: Why do people on the internet (2p2) hate me?
I think it's pretty natural that people who are older than you and less successful will not only resent your wealth, but will come to hate you when you brag about it. I'm too lazy to continue writing this paragraph, but i think you can figure out the next few logical points that I would have made

Re: Why do people on the internet (2p2) hate me?
Good2cu, I haven't read the other replies. But I think it comes down a percieved arrogance. I don't like or dislike you. I think it's great that you're enjoying your youth.
Your best post (imo) was the one in when you reflected back on one year as a pro. When you actually discussed how some people doubted what you were doing, but that you enjoyed and learnt a lot in your first year. You had a goal and worked to achieve it. People can relate to that and try and apply what they've learnt to their own life. If you brag that you have a lot of material things and or throw money away in a "balla" way... Most thinking people don't respect this. Anyone who is throwing away money has a right to do that, but it's nothing to brag about. Giving that money to a charity or doing something productive with it that adds to someone else's quality of life or your own (or perhaps even both) would again be greater appreciated. You also have to be aware (as I'm sure you are) that there are many poker players much more successful than you are (including your friends such as Jman). Thus in relative terms you don't appear that successful. Why would people be scornful about your grammar? Poker is ultimately a game. A game that makes some people a lot of money. But it's one small part of what goes on in life. Some people are excellent at English. Novelists, phd students, whatever. You said you can't help but look at hand histories and think, why the [censored] did they do that and make a scornful remark. If someone sees you butchering the english language, then if that's what they're good at in this world, it may drive them nuts. Perhaps you just need to appreciate that there are many people in this world with many different talents, and that poker is just a small part of life. And that there are plenty of people who have achieved a lot more than you in it. This is not to say that you shouldn't feel satisfaction with your success. But seriously, be happy with it within yourself. Okay that's the end of my disjointed ranting (I don't edit or use good grammar or spelling myself). |
