i suppose my main question is do you follow through on the turn?? [/ QUOTE ] Nope, even if the river was, say, an 8 of hearts, I'd probably just check behind and get a free showdown if I could. I don't think there's enough value to be guessing whether or not you'd be good, so I'd just c/f the hand. |

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
You have to bet that turn. Villain has a draw, Q-4 or just a Q here a lot. A bet will take it down from any of these. You might even get a fold from 4-4. 80% of the time when I bet a flop and then the board pairs, a turn bet will take it down.

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
i think you played it fine. i dont think following through on the turn is a good idea because q9 is a likely holding for him after the flop and if not you can still draw out on him.
also he s not that likely to have basicly the same hand or a similar one to yours as you hold blockers in your hand. |

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
i really cant see a guy potting from the SB pre flop who only raises 8% of the time having any Q4 combination
my thinking here is that if hes calling a pot bet from a guy in mid position for $25, with a total of 6 players in the pot, hes not folding for $40 more on the turn - he has to have a genuine holding here obviously if he has a similar hand to me with a Q/higher pair/9 hes going to take the pot on the river when neither of us improve if all the money goes in on the turn |

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
i could imagine betting third/half pot on the turn to be good here if he ll lay down a draw or a single q hand.

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
problem with that is i have $40 back, 1/3 is $25, so if i bet its got to be all in.
Also how does Villan know i havent made the boat already?? my standard play alot of the time is to check these types of situations where im holding the nuts to try and induce either a bluff or a value call on the river |

Re: 100plo - when wraps go bad
I think everyone agrees you have to bet the turn here sometimes.
If you're deep a lot of times 1/2 pot it is enough, here if you're not deep just pot and pray. in the absence of any reads/notes, I usually bet here about 1/5-1/3 of the time, but that may just be my style or the types or games I play in. |
