Online poker etiquette?
is there such a thing?
25NL table 6-max.. i was bluffed out of a smallish pot holding pocket kings on an A x x flop by a player holding KJo..(for some reason i was sure he had the ace) and when i folded he showed the bluff. couple of hands later i bluffed HIM out of a much bigger pot (100bb) with pretty much the same hand (king high) on a relatively dry board.. he folded and told me he had pocket 8's. another guy at the table goes "gb" ie good bluff. the guy i bluffed out kept trying to ask me what I had.. saying stuff like he put me on AK (lol) After I didn't tell him he goes "come on, i showed you my bluff, be a gentlemen and tell me what you had" ??? |

Re: Online poker etiquette?
Dont show, dont tell. Watch his anger grow and take advantage. Like someone said, a serious player doesnt need to use the chat function. This scenario has nothing to do with etiquette really.

Re: Online poker etiquette?
You did not violate any etiquette rules by not telling him anything. He's trying to extract information from you for free. If you do tell him anything about your hand, make it a believable lie.
Also bluffing him right after he bluffed you was not a good idea. If he was a thinking player he would use that bluff to set you up. Knowing that it may have ticked you off and led you to trying to bluff him back. A different player would have a lot of the time shown up with a monster hand. Also, if you never bluffed at NL 25 you wouldn't lose much value. |

Re: Online poker etiquette?
in all aspects of life there is some type of etiquette or anoter, unfortunately when things occur online (as opposed to physically) there may not be an reprocussions.
in regards toward your situation, let the gentleman get upset over nothing and hopefully he'll begin to tilt. we're no longer kids and the, "i'll show you mine if you show me your's", type of thinking need not apply to poker. |

Re: Online poker etiquette?
I'm not sure this is an online etiquitte question really.
If you're not called, you're under no obligation show your cards, ever. |

Re: Online poker etiquette?
As others have said, you are under no obligation to tell him what you had.
However, when this situation comes up for me, I always lie. I don't know why, but I just enjoy doing it. And my lie is almost always the same, "I hit a set." |

Online poker etiquette? I'm skeptical as to whether that exists or not

Re: Online poker etiquette?
Online I've found you can have a lot more fun playing around with people and pretending to be on tilt. If you think that showing your bluff can get someone on tilt and be an advantage then show, just like live. But don't be offended when people don't respond, I think we all know people multi table and just don't have the time to show or respond.
