Re: Poker in Bahamas
No poker, but the place is fantastic, however very overpriced. A burger is about $12 and a can of coke will run you about $3 if I remember correctly.

Re: Poker in Bahamas
Put the Pokerstars WPT event is there every year. So weird... They just host that tourney? But no poker otherwise?

Re: Poker in Bahamas
I was there in december. Crystal Palace has a small poker room that opens and closes whenever they feel like. The game is usually just 2/5 nl, and it is dealt by the blackjack dealers. Atlantis had no poker room.

Re: Poker in Bahamas
Bahamians are not allowed in the casinos, so I would think it would be impossible to sustain any poker without a core of regulars.

Re: Poker in Bahamas
This is from a trip report for a trip I took around New Year's:
There is no poker at Atlantis - You have to go to Cable Beach and here's what their poker room sent me in response to a request for information: Thank you for you inquiry and your interest in our poker room. We currently have the only poker room in the Bahamas. We have a total of 6 tables. Monday thru Thursday we normally open 2 to 3 tables. Friday and Saturday we have the capacity to go full spread if needed. Depending on what the players request we will accommodate any game requested providing we have enough players to play the game. Normally we will open with at least one 1 – 2 No Limit (that is what most of our players want) and 2 – 5 is quite popular at times. Buy-in for the 1-2 is $50 min. and $200 max. Buy-in for 2-5 is $200 min and $500 max. We have no demand for stud games so consequently we only run Hold’em games in our room. I hope this answers all your questions. If not, please feel free to contact me for further information. Our Poker room Manager is run by Jessica Miller, please feel free to look for her while you are in the casino. Here's the deal - went there the night of Thursday, the 28th (December) - clean room - friendly staff - but like everything else in the Bahamas - sloooowwww. 20 hands an hour slow. They had 2 1-2 NL tables going. I asked to be put on the list and went to the bar. The brush came to get me when my seat was ready. Buy-ins were capped at $200 and the time charge was $6 per half hour ... so you can see where this is going. The play was horrible - preflop raises were the exception, rather than the rule - but if you do raise preflop, expect 5-7 callers and expect to get called down. Generally a good thing -- but not with such a low cap on the buy-in. Went back on Saturday, 12/30 - they had one 1-2 NL and one 2-5 NL going. Sat at the 2-5 NL. The game died after an hour because no one at that casino wanted to play that "big" - so they turned my game into a 1-2 NL. My advice - you're in the Bahamas, enjoy the beach. |
