50NL - flopped top two on a monotone board
villain is 42/5/11. played only about 60 hands with him, so not much of a read.
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $48.90 BB: $36.15 UTG: $58.60 Hero (MP): $79.10 CO: $49.45 BTN: $50.00 Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 Players) UTG calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2.50, 4 folds, UTG calls $2.00 Flop: ($5.75) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) UTG checks, Hero bets $6.00, UTG raises to $12.00, Hero calls $6.00 Turn: ($29.75) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) UTG bets $20.50, Hero folds Pot Size: $50.25 ($1.45 Rake) His minraise on the flop made me suspicious. Since I had position I called to see what he does on the turn. So how do you interpret his bet? Looks like villain likes his hand. Do I give him too much credit by folding here? |

Re: 50NL - flopped top two on a monotone board
whenever I see people call minraises. or whenever I misadventure a call when someone makes one; I always feel i'm giving the impression that I'm content to draw.
fold or push would be my thought process here, given his agro factor, i'd be leaning towards shipping it in after that minraise. worst case he's got a flush and we can take a note. also, we're still 16% to the nuts if he's made his monster already. marginal EV ? |

Re: 50NL - flopped top two on a monotone board
this is where its either push/fold for me
many times here, i think villain can have Axs and just look at his miniraise as a value bet of some kind. the thing is, this could easily be made hand already. i don't know, seems like a tough spot. i'd probably be more inclined to push though just because this looks so weak |

Re: 50NL - flopped top two on a monotone board
i think a shove over this flop minraise is absolutely fine.
the reasoning behind it is lost on me but some people will minraise flop bets with all sort of crap that cant stand up to a shove. this happened earlier tonight: Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $60.90 BishopsFinger (BB): $24.25 UTG: $17.30 CO: $24.45 BTN: $31.55 Preflop: BishopsFinger is dealt 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) 2 folds, BTN calls $0.25, SB calls $0.15, BishopsFinger checks Flop: ($0.75) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players) SB checks, BishopsFinger bets $0.55, BTN raises to $1.10, SB folds, BishopsFinger raises to $3.60, BTN folds Uncalled bet of $2.50 returned to BishopsFinger Pot Size: $2.95 ($0.10 Rake) just to demonstrate that the flop minraise doesnt always mean a monster - its highly opponent dependent. in your situation against a relative unknown i think that is an easy shove. |

Re: 50NL - flopped top two on a monotone board
Usually I also tend to shove in that situations. Just played it different this time cause i thought i could get information out of how villain plays the turn. But the thing is, his turn bet could still represent a lot of hands.
Would he bet OOP if he was still drawing? Maybe, cause my flat call on the flop looked weak and he thinks he has fold-ev if he bets. Or maybe he wants to protect a made hand like a flush with two low cards or a set and thinks I'm the one whos drawing. So do you think either shove or fold on the flop is the only way to play this hand? Btw. how likely is it to flop a flush? About 1 %? And how likely is villain already holding a flush on a monotone flop? |
