Is this an illegal game?
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/...go-poker-club/
The $10 for "club costs and tournament expenses" is pretty high for what they're providing here. The software and table top is brought in by someone else who bought these items months ago. Also, something tells me a) Their expenses don't come to exactly $10 (especially w/ Costco purchases) b) They're not going to operate at a loss. This game averages between twelve and sixteen players. What is the likelihood that this game is illegal? Do I run a risk by attending? |

Re: Is this an illegal game?
It doesn't pass the sniff test to me.
Plus that rake sounds teribly high. However, $35 for a live donkament isn't a killing investment. |

Re: Is this an illegal game?
The rake is way too high. It sounds questionable...

Re: Is this an illegal game?
It would be illegal in Kentucky, but I don't know the laws in California. Regardless of its legality, $10 is way too much for "expenses." Maybe if they provided pizza and beer

Re: Is this an illegal game?
I don' know about other states, but in California it's illegal if you take a rake, any rake.

Re: Is this an illegal game?
Its not a rake. Its $10 for expenses. If beer and pizza were covered it would seem fine, but since its not they are almost certainly operating at a profit, therefore illegally. IANAL.

Re: Is this an illegal game?
They fact of the matter is that any "unliscenced" game of change that takes a cut or charges to play is always illegal. Home games that charge or take a rake are illegal always. It doesn't matter what state even in California or even Nevada in the city of Las Vegas, if the game is unliscenced. And even with "beer and pizza" that doesn't matter, you can't profit in an unliscenced establisment. Home games are never illegal if they all play at stakes and there is no one party being paid or taking a rake. This doesn't need a poll that is very very very illegal, and also try to find a cheaper game. Though you can play it, the establishment is really at more risk that the players.
