who would he put his net worth on if him and Tiger were head to head in the final round of a major? Of course it seems simple that he would obviouly bet on himself, but is that logical? Would it just be better for him to swallow his pride and bet on Tiger?
(I shouldn't have to say this, but let's assume he wouldn't throw the match if he bet on Tiger.) |

I don't think he would want to put his entire net worth on himself OR Tiger in this situation.

First of all, Phil Mickelson is very much a bettin' man. He got fined a few years ago for a bet with Mike Weir while they were in the clubhouse watching a tournament.
Second, Phil isn't a complete retard and probably has decent bankroll management skills. He would not bet his net worth on anything. John Daly OTOH... |

It's not so much the idea whether or not he'd bet his net worth, but whether or not he would bet against himself facing Tiger.

If Tiger showed up at Phil's home in the offseason unannounced and asked to play him heads up for 10 or 20 grand as a practice round I'm sure Phil would bet on himself for fun.
Neither Phil nor Tiger would bet on or against themselves in the final round of a major because there is enough pressure to raise their adrenaline without extra money involved. I guess if Phil had to bet on himself or Tiger to save his kids life or something and there was no chance of either player being able to throw the match, then he would bet based on how he felt, the course they were playing, the weather, and any number of other factors. I assume like any rational handicapper he would make Tiger the favorite more often than himself but not every time. |

What's that, a buck-fifty? |

Didn't he make a bunch of money on a futures bet on the Ravens during their Super Bowl season?

Don't know if it's true, but I've heard that his caddy has had to pull him away from the BJ table to go to a golf tournament. He is very much a betting man.
