If you're using a 64-bit version of Vista, this is not a problem. Otherwise, save your money.

I'm pretty sure it's not 64-bit, but I don't know. It's some version of Home Premium Dell gave me for free, so I'd assume 32-bit. I think I'll just upgrade to 3GB instead of 4 for the time being. Prob won't need more than that anyways.

Update

Still waiting a few days so this will be shipped when im around to recieve it.

Im going with this " Microsoft Windows XP Professional With SP2B 1 Pack - OEM". Its a good price for professional, ill be networking with other xp machines and with all the programs I need for my small business any possible incombatibilities and headaches cost me time/money.

I decided to go with 4gb on the memory since prices are so good right now.

The HD upgrade that was suggested ads over a hundo, is the difference between 7.2k and 10k really that significant?

I firmly believe faster hard drives are a waste of money. That said quite a few people feel very passionately otherwise.

As for the OS, you NEED a 64 bit OS if you want to use 4GB of RAM. This means vista since XP 64bit has issues...

Answer: It depends. What are you going to be using it for and what is a reasonable definition for significant. If you're going to be doing database work, I think a 10k drive is a good investment.

I guess I'm one of them. For most systems, the harddrive is the biggest bottleneck you'll have. I think the performance really shows if you happen to do quite a bit of multitasking beyond just one program at a time.

Edit: I'm not referring to performance for a single application but general usage overall. You're not going to get higher FPS in a game except maybe improved load times.
