NL25 - 66 hits its set, 2 suited board
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (5 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter
UTG ($14.45) MP ($39) Button ($19.20) Hero ($30.40) BB ($25.40) Preflop: Hero is SB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG raises to $1, MP calls $1, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.90, 1 fold. Flop: ($3.25) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, UTG bets $2, MP raises to $5.75, Hero raises to $29.4, UTG folds, MP calls $23.65. Turn: ($64.05) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) River: ($64.05) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: $64.05 Both Villains seemed to be fairly aggressive, that's why I didn't lead out the flop. What do ya think about this? I don't really like my check/push-line anyway, cause I think it really smells like a set and is kinda fishy. But I thought it looks a bit like a steal and I will get called often by someone who has got something and wants to look me up. What would be my advantages of bet/raise here? |

Re: NL25 - 66 hits its set, 2 suited board
You are trying to take both players off any draws with that raise. Odds are that you are a winner there, but set over set does happen.
It is a tough hand because of the draws. If UTG is on a draw, MP is certainly trying to take it away. If you call, the UTG certainly now has the odds to call for a draw of any kind. Your move gets the UTG out, but opens you up to an over-set possibility. If you are like Harrington and playing it like a tourney, you are ready to die with a set, but this isn't a tourney. If you are willing to die with it, you certainly have no choice but pushing at this time. Because if you get called, you are putting the rest of your money in the middle anyway. |

You definitely need to lead this flop. If villains are aggressive, that just means there's a good chance they'll raise.
