Nut straight facing big reraise on paired board
Live Spread Limit Holdem, 2/3/5 blinds, 9-handed. (San Jose does not allow no limit, only spread limit with 40x the bb betting. We also have a 3rd blind with the button posting $2.00. Think 2/5 NL with a max bet/raise of $200).
Relevant stacks: Hero (MP): $800 Villain (BB): covers hero Hero and Villain have both been at the same tables roughly 4 hours. Our style of play has been similar: tight aggressive with good hands, loose passive with drawing hands, and willing to put chips in the middle to suck out if the pot odds are good.. Hero has: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] EP limps, I limp, button and blinds complete. Flop: 10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (Pot = $20, 5 players) $5.00 drop SB checks, BB bets $15, EP folds, Hero calls $15, Button and SB fold. Turn: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Pot $50, 2 players) BB bets $15, Hero raises to$45, BB calls $30. River: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (Pot $140, 2 players) BB bets $15, Hero raises to$45, BB raises to $245, Hero….??? Okay, limping 7 5 off is questionable but I'm ready to let it go to a late position raise. I had put Villain on either a middle pair or possibly 2 pair. If he has two pair, he might have filled up on the fiver. |

Re: Nut straight facing big reraise on paired board
you're putting him squarely on 64 or 34 here if you want to fold. If you think he will flat the turn with a set (prolly not), then it opens his range a bit, but otherwise, it can really only be those two hands...
But you did show a ton of strength here, and it doesn't sound like either of you are playing too creatively, so I really wouldn't be surprised if he had one of those two hands I can probably muck here if you think he's a real straightforward player, because there's no way he's 3betting you after all that action with a bare 4...best case is you are splitting |

Re: Nut straight facing big reraise on paired board
I tanked a bit but eventually called. BB turned over 52o for a smaller straight.
I'm curious about the comments regarding raise sizes. I have the nuts on the turn. and thought I was value raising. If BB is betting with an overpair to the board or some weaker hand, why should I scare him out of the pot by betting large? |

Re: Nut straight facing big reraise on paired board
b/c people are dumb and call with stupid [censored].
if people are calling a reraise of 45 they will prob call a reraise of 60 |

Re: Nut straight facing big reraise on paired board
fold pf
only call flop against a weak player who will stack off easily. raise to smt like 60 on turn and river. ..and i could call or fold to the river-raise. usually call. |
