Best Internet Players vs. Best Live Players - Who Wins??
I was recently reading the posts about sbrugby against Farha in nosebleed Pot Limit Omaha and the post that was titled 'the evolution of the poker player', and I get the feeling that most posters here think that the best online players would destroy legends like Doyle Brunson (and any of the top players who made their poker money live and not the internet) in heads up No Limit Hold'em cash games.
Assuming that these games are to be played LIVE and not online... (1) If sbrugby somehow got an arrangement to play Doyle heads up NL Hold'em live every day for a year, who do you think would be in the black and why? (2) Where are the advantages for each side- what are the different skill sets that give either the top online players or top live players an advantage in a live setting? Any reponses would be greatly appreciated. Responses from high stakes online winners on 2+2 would be especially appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Best Internet Players vs. Best Live Players - Who Wins??
Doyle is a great player but he is not the best live player. I'd have to say that would be Phil Ivey.
I think Ivey would have a slight edge on Aba but I think Aba would have a slight edge on Doyle. Overall I think as a whole, internet players have become better than live players. Plus there is a huge difference in terms of heads up, full ring, and 6 max. Some players are much better heads up than they are at full ring and visa versa. |
