Is there anyway to get away from this hand? I considered that the only thing different could have been to reraise more preflop but with AK I usually try to raise a small enough amount where AQ sticks around and AA/KK still have room to reraise. If I had flatted with my AK still would have been in just about the same boat. Any thoughts on this?

At what point on the turn did you think you were still ahead? With so much action, do you really think he's a donk to continue to reraise you with JJ/QQ or AQ or any second best hand, straight draw?

Your answer may be on the turn.

I'm calling the 3 bet on the turn and probably folding to most bets on a non A/K river.

I'm pretty sure the 4bet is spew as villan rarely continues with a worse hand and never folds a better one.

You 3bet pre and got cold called. BET the flop for 2/3 pot and see if you get called, don't give a free card. (He doesn't know you have AK. You could do this w/QQ) If he hit a set of 9's, it's pretty hard to get away from this hand. You would have a pretty good idea if he hit it if he put you AI...

You still have outs to the FH after the flop even if he did spike a set...

Street by street preflop looks like you should have perhaps raised a bit more, anything he opened here should be calling this deep getting 3-1, i'd probably make it nearer 1200 but on to the flop to help define his range a bit better as at the moment it's pretty wide but from your TAG read probably 88+ AQ+ and the odd SC, about right?

Flop: why check behind? pot control? slowplay? I think i throw in a standard c-bet here firstly to get value from AQ/J (which shouldn't really be there anyways) and secondly not to give a free card. This bet will help you define his range much better. As it is you waited til the turn...

Turn: his minibet stinks but it still needs reraising as he may have taken your flop check as weakness. your 1000 into a pot of 2450 looks very weak to me I would put it up to about 1.8-2k. However as played, Once he 3 bets you small again like woohoo said i'm calling and seeing the river, he does not seem bothered about you having a strong ace, which is fairly clear(although 2pr maybe not so), having called reraise and 3 bet.

river: doesn't change much but i'm still calling a smallish bet, but not a shove i hope

Just generally, you made quite a few terrible raises in this hand. The PF 4-bet to 900 really sucks, as does the turn raise to 1000 (raise more both places, a lot more.) You can definitely get away from 2 pair this deep, or at least stop putting in raises...he puts in such tiny bets you can pretty much show this hand down whenever you want. Also, I don't care for checking behind on the flop at all. You 4-bet PF then expect someone to believe that you bricked an AK9 board? I'm betting there 100% of the time with QQ and JJ, so I need to bet when I hit it too.

I agree with tinty... There is no point checking behind on the flop all it does is A. show even more strength or possibly that you have QQ JJ. B. Allow him to hit a gutshot or set on the turn for free. Infact I would put out a 2/3 size bet on the flop see how he reacts. However, checking behind on the flop may of made it that much easier for you to get away when he continues to reraise. The only hands you were beating that would keep reraising it were Ax two pairs that are highly unlikely seeing your 3 bet p/f however that was weak too. Make it 1200 before the flop and you can get a better range of the hand he is playing or pos take it down right there which I dont mind doing with AK anyway.
