Default Poker in Miami?

I'll be in Miami later this week and would like to get some poker in. I know there is some state law that limits bets to $2, but are there any good poker rooms that have tourneys? Any rooms nicer than others? I'd like to play some Omaha 8/b and other games too since the limits are low. Best place? Thanks.

The state shut down all the tournaments at Parimutel facilities recently, so if you go to any of those, you're stuck at $2. They play No Fodl 'Em. Some playing spread Stud and "Double Flop" Hold'em. You'll sometimes see an O8 game going.

Your best shot will be Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood. They spread No Limit Hold'Em SNGs for $140, $250, $520 and $1050. I am not sure if $520 and $1050 is exact, but its somewhere in that range. They also run $65 PokerPro SNGs. That's the automatic table with the LCD screen. The run various multis throughout the week, so either call or check the web site for the schedule. You can find $2 Hold'Em, Omaha and Stud here.

Good Luck

The SNGs are pretty weak. I try to stay away from the Limit stuff. Its not really worth playing.

Hollywood
The Seminole Casino Hollywood facility was the first high-stakes operation open in the country. In 1991, Hollywood became a 24-hour gaming facility and has been increased in size to accommodate the increasing number of patrons. There you choose from round-the-clock Poker on 48 tables featuring progressive royal jackpots; daily mini-tournaments in 7 Card Stud; Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hi-lo; Lightning Bingo (where you can make a fortune in minutes) and, much more. The 12-story Mediterranean-style Hard Rock Hotel tower has 500 spacious guest rooms, including 63 suites with panoramic views.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood is located at 4150 North SR 7 in Hollywood. Take I-95 to Stirling Road and go west to State Road 7. Call 866-2-CASINO for further information.

Miccosukee Resort & Gaming
Miccosukee gaming provides a thrill-a-minute action within the confines of a 302-room resort-type hotel that also contains a restaurant and lounge and features live big-name entertainment. The 24-hour gaming operation includes more than 1,000 video pull-tab machines, 58 poker tables and high-stakes bingo.
Miccosukee Resort and Gaming is located at 500 S.W. 177th Avenue in Miami. Its Miami location places it in a position to compete with some of South Florida's.

The Seminole Casino, by the way, is just up the street from the Hard Rock, a few blocks south on State Road 7 (also known as US 441).
