I saw Layne Flack hand Shawn Sheikan a significant amount of $100 bills at the Rio

Also if Bicyclekick can comment, some older guy in a big LHE game challenged a slim asian kid in a black hoodie to play heads-up angrily and the asian kid kinda put him down, it was sorta entertaining and BK was sitting on an infinite amount of green chips and could maybe comment unless its retardedly standard.

this also reminds me, i *think* i saw dutch boyd in the Rio, and I say think because if it is him, he has gained like at least 50 pounds. it was like you stuck dutch's head on nath's body (no offense to nath, he's always been a lovable big dude).

Davood sat next to me in the $1500 PL holdem event. As we were trying to figure out the correct preflop raise amount during 100-200 blinds, Davood informs the table that he plays a lot of pot limit games and you can raise to $900. He is then quieted by someone who explains to him that 100+200+200+200 = 700 and he actually stops talking for a bit.

That's paul and han su (spelled wrong i'm sure). Paul was messed up on coke and alcohol he said he always gets like that. It is retardedly standard. He always challenges everyone and everyone puts their money where their mouth is but unlike last year, he's just all talk. He was calling everyone que ers and fa ggots and other thinsg and just being belligerent. It's amazing how much the bellagio and pro's put up with when a guy is going off. Some guy brought him a glass of whine and he chugged it real quick cause he said he'll get kicked out if he has a drink at the table. I don't know the details of that, tho.

Han su went off on him tho and it was really funny cause it really backed paul down. He said something like "if you want [censored] to get real paul it can get real really quick. We can settle this cause I'm sick of you talking [censored]" or something. It was funny how carmen escorted han su out of there...she 'scooted' him to the high limit section. Just cracked me up. She handled it well.

I apologize if this sounds stupid and I know that this is how it works as I've played PL before, but why exactly is someone allowed to raise to 700 when theres 300(100+200) in the pot?

First you call 200, so the pot is 100+200+200 = 500. Then you can raise another 500 for a total bet of 700.

You've played PL before but you don't understand one of the most basic elements of the game???

So about how much did you lose before you quit playing PL??

This only works for a 1-2 blind structure game (and actually slightly easier to think of it as 7x SB). However, if the blinds are different, say 25-25, then the trick does not work. The max bet for which you can open from a non-blind position will always be the same, and is pretty easy to memorize. If someone has opened in front of you for a call, and nobody else has yet raised, just add one BB to that number to get the max amount you can raise. So in the 25-25 case, you can open for a max of 100 (25 call + 50 blinds = 75 pot, u raise pot so u raise 75, 25 call + 75 raise = 100). If there is one limper, the max bet is 125, if two limpers max = 150, and so on.
