Free photoshop-like software?

Hi guys, I remember seeing a thread about photoshopping where some good free software was mentionned. I haven't been able to get a result from the search option and was wondering if any of you could help me finding those freewares.

Doing a google search for [ free "like photoshop" ] brings up tons of links referencing GIMP and the rest.

Good call. I don't know where the other words went. I really did think them.

"Her" is referring to my girlfriend who was sitting there watching some reality show and randomly seeing what I'm doing. She was dumbfounded that someone would ask something like that.
