what parents dont want you to get a real job?? last summer i worked at a restaurant like once a month and was just never around when they got done working this summer will probably turn out the same. my parents dont like that i play poker but they dont help pay for my college at all eitehr so i tell them once tehy start paying for college i will get a real job until then i am gonna pay for college the only way i know how

Same situation for me a month or two ago. Take a job, one that's in the day (mine is 6-15, pretty good unless I want to play late but I only work 4 days so it's all good), around 16-40 hours/week, hopefully something related to your field of studies so that's it's "good" for your resume. Regular student jobs really don't matter for your CV imo..

Factory job would be better for your resume than a putting turkey and mayo between bread. Plus you'd probably be smarter than most of your coworkers and could move up if it's related to your field of study. Even if you plan to play poker professionally, you should at least work a job you don't like for a while so you'll always know how good you have it.

my mum and dad were like that, ever since i told them about poker they have been supporting my decision to quit work, which feels good as i thought they would have went mad [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

OP, try and land some decent internships over the summer. These will be huge when trying to find the right job after graduation - and will appease your parents.

Yeah just land an internship or volunteer at a place that could advance whatever future career you might have. Most want only like 15-20 hours/week and are not hard at all.
