NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
Not crazy about calling raises with QJ OOP, judging from villians actions I would put him on either AA or KK, if he had say KQ/AQ he would probably put a smaller reraise in on flop, you cant really fold here, if he has got AQ/KQ youll have to just pay him off and just be thankful you both hit a boat for a split, and if he's got 88, be courteous when dishing out the bad beat.

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
Hi, thanks for posting this hand. I play a lot of NL50, and I will be the first to say that I have no idea what the correct decision is after villain goes all-in. Looking forward to others' responses...

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
what is his range for doing this? QK,QA,88, and possibly KK and AA? I think it's a fold but I'd have trouble laying it down.

If you're calling PF with this, you shouldn't be folding if you flop a set.

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
I fold preflop unless MP is getting really out of line: marginal hand that's easily dominated, OOP and we need to hit flop very hard to continue.
As played, I think 88 is villain's most likely holding here, but against his widest possible range (excluding Q8 which I can't put in his range): Board: Qc 8d Qh Hand 0: 40.003% { KK+, 88, AQs, KQs, QTs+, AQo, KQo, QTo+ } Hand 1: 59.997% { QsJs } But if we think villain is too smart to do this with KK/AA: Board: Qc 8d Qh Hand 0: 60.948% { 88, AQs, KQs, QTs+, AQo, KQo, QTo+ } Hand 1: 39.052% { QsJs } I don't really undersand combinatronics (Derosnec's your man for that!) but I think the fact 3 Q's are out there reduce the chance villain has the 4th, so the other hands {88, AA, KK} become more likely. Anyway, I call (while not liking it very much) and suck out on villain's 88. |

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
I call these too sometimes against loose players *shrugs*
I would love this until the AI, ugh, I wish you hadn't posted the turn and river cards I am tempted to fold the flop........ because there are 3 hands that crush us 88/AQ/KQ , nah I would probably call and keep my fingers crossed |

Re: NL 50 - Trip Q Facing Strong Action on Flop
BTW no way in hell I'm folding this flop.
And I don't think calling with QJs PF there is bad either. remember people's raising range in 6max is really wide(especially NL50) We hit a good flop if he has a better Q so be it. anyways here's the poker stove out put for him having the following range: KK+,JJ,88,Q8s+ equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 79.103% 75.82% 03.28% 15763 682.50 { QsJs } Hand 1: 20.897% 17.61% 03.28% 3662 682.50 { KK+, JJ, 88, Q8s+ } whoever said they fold this must be totally insane (joking ) |
