grazing
Diet-wise, I've been operating under the impression that it'd be ideal to spread your caloric intake over the largest span possible, with 6 meals a day being a happy medium between the practical and the ideal. For this reason, I'll have a snack whenever I want it but just make a mental note to eat less later. Is this fine?

Re: grazing
In general the more often you eat the more steady your metabolism will be, and also you burn calories by eating/digesting. This is why smaller, more frequent meals is more advantageous for almost all goals in fitness. If you're trying to get 3000 calories a day or whatever it would be much better to get 500 calories 6 times than 1000 calories 3 times. You will probably feel more energized throughout the day as well.

[/ QUOTE ] assuming your fat/carb/protein %'s are correct, it would be ideal to eat 250 calorie portions 8 times a day for an individual with a metabolic need of 2000 calories per day. but to answer your question, yes, grazing is best. i think a lot of people will eat twice in a day, consuming only 500 calories or so, then eat a dinner that's 2000 calories or so, and wonder why they're not able to lose weight. |
