Where to stay? Room rate and competition balance?
Hello all, I am headed out to Mecca (read: Vegas) in September for a 4 day weekend with my father to play some poker. I have been to Vegas many times, as has he. Last time I went, I did the majority of my playing at Caesar's, which had a great 500 max 1-2 game and an uncapped juicy 2-5 game. I called Caesar's and they want 8 hours of play for EACH of us per night we want the room rate. That's a bti stiff, considering I know that other rooms let youc ombine your play time to get the room rate. My question for the forum is where should i stay for a great mix of soft-ish competition at 1-2 and 2-5 NL as well as a decent room rate with not too heavy of a play requirement? Thanks in advance.

Re: Where to stay? Room rate and competition balance?
Poker play is not very good for getting comps in general, as you probably already know. Caesar's room rates are through the roof; while it's very nice, I never like staying at casinos where the craps tables are at a $25 minimum bet. You'd be much better off at MGM --- still a nice casino, but with looser requirements to get a "poker rate".

Ryan [/ QUOTE ] You get the same poker room rate at the Wynn for 6hrs/night. They have 1/3 and 2/5 NL games with no cap. Not sure if they allow you to combine hours or not. |

It's hard to imagine they would demand a husband+wife+21yoOffspring sharing a room give them 24 hours a day of poker play per day to get a poker rate. But they may demand that one person of the two has to come up with 8 hours a day. But yeah... shop around if you don't like the deal CP is offering. |

i cant comment on NL but imo, bellagio > wynn re: room rate vs game quality ratio, at least as far as mid stakes LHE goes.
that said, the wynn does have very nice rooms, and i havent stayed in the bellagio yet (first time will be next weekend actually). |

Re: Where to stay? Room rate and competition balance?
Wynn rooms are > Bellagio rooms. Not by a lot, but they are.
Venetian not only lets you split the hours among roommates, they even mention it to you when you ask about the poker rate. I spent a lot of time there this past weekend and am liking it more and more. Whether the Chiefs are doing the best things or not, the Indians are trying very hard to make the customers happy. |

Thanks for the responses guys. I think that I am all but sold on the Wynn, as I love the idea of an uncapped 1/3 NL game.
