You also can't overlook the fact that sammy has more experience with very deep stacked PLO and NL and seems to have endless funds.

Having said this, do you feel this negates any edge that Brian has skillwise?

edit: beat me to it john

Take two people of equal size/skill/strength for basketball. Have one of the people practice by doing 10 free throws a day. Have the other person do 100 free throws a day. Hold a free-throw competition at the end of a year. Who do you bet on and why? Re-read your post and attempt to draw some conclusions.

y all the hate for this? I was trying to make an extremely dumbed down analogy for a reason. And point out any flaws in my "logic" if you will.

everyone who is qualified to offer an opinion in this thread says farha is the favorite in PLO. also its really stupid how many people have talked about farha's total hands played as if brian has some huge edge because he plays a lot more hands online. one of the biggest myths in poker is that online players progress more rapidly (and will eventually overtake live players) simply because they're playing more hands online.

[/ QUOTE ]

Good thing you're qualified to judge who's qualified to say. Otherwise we'd have never figured out who has the edge.

"sammy has more experience with very deep stacked PLO and NL"

where has sammy gotten all this super deep stacked HU experience? does he have a regular game?

im guessing aba has much, much more experience of both games for 300bb and under. its probably relatively close for under 500bb. and by the description of abas blog (5-1k blinds, with pots higher than 500k. im guessing he would have said if they reached higher than 750?) it doesn't sound like this game is anything that aba doesnt have a lot more experience at.

i dont think stack size has been stated yet but it sounds as if they started around ~200k and worked their way up to 400k effective maybe?

if stack sizes were stated, ignore pls.

Jamie Gold has a bracelet, doesn't mean he's better than Brian.

Just wondering, when Sammy comes in town, what are the normal stakes he plays with everyone in PLO?

Three things to add:

1) Farha loves to tell everyone that he made all his money from poker. The one time I played with him 200-400 in LA, he kept mentioning it over and over. Other players who have played with him a lot kept saying that he always loves to say that he made all his money from poker. This all, of course, probably means he made most of his money from something that has nothing to do with poker. What the nature of this other income is--no one knows.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like the way you put this. I have suspected for a long time that Sammy made most of his $ outside of poker, but it was pure speculation so I never posted about it.

The thing is the numbers just don't add up. Sammy is apparently super rich, and yet his only possibly good game is live PLO.

I just don't think it's possible for someone to be making a fortune playing live PLO... he would have to be playing some super secret super big games that nobody else knows about.

That and the fact that he obviously has zero game selection and bad gambling instincts (spotting BA the button) makes me strongly suspect he made a massive killing in some kind of business deal.

People are saying Sammy is only good at one game. You can be better at different games than others, sure. But as numerous people have stated it's all poker. You have a hand. Your represent a hand and your opponent has a range of holdings. You can't be amazing at one game and totally suck at the others. They require a very similar skill set.
