The guy called your massive raise on the turn, is he really going to fold the river when he hits the flush he is obviously chasing? He is a terrible player, make a note and stack him later. I think the check is fine.

If by "always" you mean "never" then yes.

I don't even see how you are being results oriented to advocate betting here. If you had bet you would have lost $15 (I think that's what you have behind) more and that's it.

To be truly results oriented would be to say you played this perfectly (and I think you even may have).

I was thinking about the math. If I fold the 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] a little better than 1/6 times, I break even. Counting the times I get called by a worse hand because I'm only betting $15 into $72, why is it such a bad idea to bet here, given my stack size and the size of the pot?

On the turn he either already has a flush or was trying to draw cheaply and got raised. He would have bet overpairs on the flop or A7. So overpairs or A7 isn't paying you off on river because those hands are not there. You are beating like K3s. No flush is ever folding the river. If he called the turn to make a flush then he ain't folding when he hits it. This could even be a tricky trappy play with a boat.
