I think a more frequent update of the FAQ is a better idea. And if not answered there post away. How many specialized threads would there be otherwise?

This is a terrible idea. It has ruined the Zoo and it will ruin this forum as well.

In the Zoo, anything that happens at Stars or FTP, or wherever, can have its own thread, where everyone can see them by scanning the new thread titles. But anything that happens at Wpex is jammed into a series of "official" threads. If you want to know about Wpex, you have do open that thread several times a day and scan through all the "Re: official thread" posts.

"Official" threads appeal to moderators because they give them a reason to lock other threads and lord it over the mere mortals who dare post in them.

It's a FORUM, where people discuss ideas. It's not a slowly-evolving FAQ where the annointed add to the FAQ and everyone else is allowed only to read the FAQ and never speak.

Think of it as employees standing around the water cooler:

Employee 1: Anyone catch the score of the game last night?

Employee 2: Read the FAQ!

Employee 3: Ever heard of Google?

Employee 4: There have been three idiots ask that same question already this morning!

Employee 5: Wrong water cooler!

Water Cooler Moderator: This conversation is locked! Use the "official last night score cooler!"
