Default 1/2 NL should i have done something different?

Full 1 / 2 NL Table at the Tropicana in AC. I have about $300 in chips and am in the small blind. I have also played maybe 2 hands in the last two hours. A little on the table: no cheap flops, even with large preflop bets you are likely to get a few callers. I have 10c 10s on the button. Five limps to me and I make in $20 to go. Villain ($400) in mid position raises the bet to $40 and I call. Flop comes Ks Kd 3c. Villain bets $50 and I reraise to $150 very quick smooth call by villain. Turn come 8s. Check. Check. River comes Jd. Check. Check………what do you guys think of my checks on the turn and river? Results to follow.

thats the point of the bet though isn't it?... That i DONT want a call. I figure that villian is making a play...perhaps with a big ace/ pair....

in a way yes...but thats a poor characterization. I want to take the hand right there (i guess i wouldn't mind a call)..but if he has an Ace or a small pair their is time to catch up (why would i want to risk that) There is also a chance that i am "bluffing with the worst hand"..i could have the weaker hand (only slightly weaker though) and my stronger bet drives out several hands (e.g. JJ or QQ).

It's very unlikely villain has JJ or QQ due to the pf action, so you have to assume that you are usually ahead... if villain has a smaller pair, you're a huge favorite, but villain will fold if you raise, so you must call call call

if villain has Ax he only has 3 outs if X is T or less, so again, you're a huge favorite, but he'll fold if you bet, so you make money by calling his bluffs

basically by raising you're filtering out the hands you beat and getting called mostly only by hands that beat you

i'd call down on this board.... i'd probably fold to 3 streets of pressure depending on how it goes down, but i'd call 2 streets fairly often vs. aggressive villains
