absolutely insane 20/40 game
hand happened a while back.
game played capped preflop multiway w/rag hands. LAG limps, 2 callers, i limp button w/K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB raises, BB calls, LAG 3 bets, two calls, i call, SB caps. all call. six way for 24 SB. A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB checks, BB bets, LAG calls, MP calls, late MP raises, i call two, SB folds, everybody calls. T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (17 BBs) BB checks, UTG bets, MP calls, late MP calls, i RAISE?, BB fold, everybody calls. so on the turn, how equitable is this raise? 5 handed w/all those draws there's no way i'm getting the worst of it by raising am i? |

You have a lot of draws going for you. Yikes!

Re: absolutely insane 20/40 game
It's a good turn raise.
It's not a hand that I'd want to play for more than 1 sb preflop. |

Re: absolutely insane 20/40 game
Not sure I would have put in the one small bet on the button even, though if I made a loose call I would probably call two more back to me. As played I would raise the turn. Another bet in on the flop would have been even better, though my guess is you didn't do raise because afraid to push anyone out, which I understand.
The donk bet on the turn is odd as the Td wouldn't seem to make any hands - the only thing I can think of is that he might have AA and decided to get tricky both preflop and on the flop. Definately interested on how the rest of the hand went. Rob |

Re: absolutely insane 20/40 game
Howzit – Wow. You have 24 outs falling into nine groups, as follows.
Qs 8s7s6s5s QhQc 2s4s 5c5h 8h8d8c7h7d7c6h6d6c 9sTs 5d Qd Of these different groups, the five of diamonds is the most complicated. As simulated:<ul type="square"> 2497 scoops (wheel, no split, no flush) 6043 half (split with another wheel or flush) 25 third (split with two other wheels) 1373 quarter (lose to flush, split with wheel) 62 sixth (lose to flush, split with two wheels)
Qs scoops 100% 8s7s6s5s scoop 79.3%, get 3/4 19.8%, get 2/3 0.9% QhQc scoop 79.7% get half 18.2%, get 1/3 2.1% 2s4s scoop 2.8% get half 94.6%, lose 2.6% 5c5h scoop 79.2%, get half 19.9%, get 1/3 0.9% 8h8d8c7h7d7c6h6d6c get half 79.2, get quarter 19.9%, get sixth 0.9% 9sTs scoop 49.3%, lose 50.7% 5d scoops 25.0% gets half 60.5%, gets third 0.2%, gets quarter 13.7%, gets sixth 0.6% Qd scoops 25.3%, gets half 5.2%, 1/3 0.5%, loses 69% I’m going to go play some poker now and will finish this sometime tonight. Re: absolutely insane 20/40 game
I'm not sure why you didn't 3-bet the flop. In a smaller pot I understand the smooth-call since you want to keep people in, but with the pot this large I don't think anyone with a reasonable hand is going to drop.

This is an easy raise/reraise on turn.

Re: absolutely insane 20/40 game
HOWZIT posted this hand for me. I didnt raise the flop because I knew I'd lose some of the players and wanted to get max value if the board doesnt pair on the turn. Once the non-pair comes, and in this case, adds another straight draw, I am comfortable with my draws amd equity.
In this game - people are playing about as bad as you can. I would typically toss this into the muck, but your equity in these hands is so huge because people are typically pushing hands like K-K-9-9 etc preflop. Lots of holdem players in this. |
