On Studying...
A lot of folks have mentioned that they play X hours per day and study Y hours per day.
What specifically are you studying away from the table? Do you have some sort of schedule like: 1-2: Study PT stats 2-3: Post hands on 2+2, reply to hands 3-4: Read current book 4-5: Pokerstove calcs 5-6: Practice hand-reading watching online play What are the activities you are doing? What is your methodology or approach to studying? How do you schedule your time (20-30 min per activity? hours?) What is your expected outcome from each activity (activity X produces outcome Y)... |

Re: On Studying...
For me it just depends on what I have the time for. I spend as much time as possible playing, but if I have a hand I didn't know what to do on I'll save it and post it here. If I'm stuck somewhere but have free time I try to read books, but I've read so many now that I'm pretty bored with it. I think posting and playing are the best ways to spend your time studying, the more hands you get in the more experience you get. But if I were back to being a beginner I would again spend more time reading books etc.

Re: On Studying...
I like to go over hand histories. Not just the ones I was in, but also any hand with a big pot. I want to see if there are certain situations that occure more often with big pots that I can either take advantage of or avoid if I am involved.
I like to review to see what I put each person on based on the action to improve my hand reading skills. When I see a pattern emerge with a certain situation I will add it to my list. |
