So we don't think we are ahead enough here to call the river shove getting almost 3-1?
Board: Kh 7c 7s Js Ts Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 38.636% 27.27% 11.36% 6 2.50 { AhKd } Hand 1: 61.364% 50.00% 11.36% 11 2.50 { TT+, AKs, AKo } I think a call is good as played. Villian hasn't shown us that he is really strong and has air or a hand we beat enough of the time to call here. I'm pretty sure a check behind on the turn helps induce a shove from a lesser hand on this river. Also a check behind on the river isn't horrible since our hand has showdown value and we would like to get there. |

I like this line Sherman. Thanks for the input. I am either way ahead or way behind. No reason to always worry that someone will catch there 2 outs from the deck.
I partly bet the flop here to see where I was. If I was raised I could fold cheaply. And I didn't bet the turn because I figured I was either way ahead or way behind and I could see the final card before making a decision. Say the river had been a K or an A. Strong hands as well as bluffers like to checkraise on the turn. Maybe it is a habit from limit, but I always like to bet the flop instead of the turn because the turn is more costly. I should keep in mind that this is not the case in no-limit. Yes I know already I should have checked the river. But I really thought I was ahead at this point. Most of the time when people check twice they are weak. And usually when I check the river because the board looks scary I miss a bet. Looks like I got it wrong this time though. |

[/ QUOTE ] this is really bad. i like the river bet though, although it kinda sucked this time. he obv didnt think u had a k and woulda called u with qq, kq aj surely. im usually checking behind here though cause i suck at bet/folding that much of my stack... and further i like shermans line a lot. |

![]() Can you elaborate on the "really bad?" Is betting for information no good? If he had come over the top why would I risk my remaining stack early in the tournament on top pair. Even with a good kicker. |

My preferred line is here: Flop: Check behind. Turn: If he leads always raise. If he checks always bet. River: Call if he leads. Bet for value if he checks. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like raising the turn for the same reasons that have been stated for not betting the flop. His range here is probably like TT+, AK, maybe AQ (easily could be looser depending on buyin), and it seems like raising the turn is just going to get you stomped by KK and AA and fold out everything else. If you just call, you can sometimes get another bet out of QQ and below by either calling their bet or value betting yourself if he checks. If he has AA or KK you're losing about the same amount as if you raise/fold the turn. |

cuz when u bet the flop weak you more or less induce villain try and push u of your hand. so the information u obtain is tainted. if u are concerned with not having the best hand, play it wa/wb instead. Obv playing it in a way that gets more from weaker hands and lose little against better is better than to play it for information that might not even be good?
