Re: Last year, I could see cards while the dealer shuffled
[ QUOTE ]
Automatic card shufflers are super super awesome. Played with them the other day, they are fantasitc. [/ QUOTE ] The thing is, Harrah's will NEVER use them in the WSOP. Heck, they won't even use them in circuit events. I asked why when I was playing in the one at the Horseshoe back in January in Council Bluff's IA. Seems you can not BUY the shufflers from the guy who owns the pattent, you can only RENT them, and they don't come cheap, or so I was told. I suspect that they have to pay so much a shuffle too, and we know if it involves paying out of money with Harrahs, you can forget that! |

Re: Last year, I could see cards while the dealer shuffled
it's common place in tournaments to not use shuffle machines.
every WPT event is this way. WSOP the same. it is a cost issue and it's not really just because harrah's is cheap... i think it's just because most casinos are cheap. |

Re: Last year, I could see cards while the dealer shuffled
For a casino and card rooms the auto shufflers work well in cash games because they can get more hands per hour which equates to more rake.
In a tourney like the WSOP they already have their rake up front, so it doesn't matter to them if they get in a few more hands per hour. |

It's a fairly recent (within a year or so?) change, I believe. The produce is the Deck Mate from Shuffle Master. They are available for lease or purchase. I've been told from several independent sources (although not a direct quote from the vendor) that the price is around 30k per device, so it's definitely pricey. |

Due to the fact Shuffle Master is in a highly regulated industry, we generally do not sell our equipment to unlicensed individuals or organizations however, we have recently begun offering our Deck MateŽ poker shuffler for private purchase and use for $15,795. Not available for purchase in Colorado, New Jersey, Washington or Texas. Re: Last year, I could see cards while the dealer shuffled
Heh. Teach me to grab quick links without reading the text closely. No biggie. Just means either the corporate purchases include a service contract in the higher price (not unreasonable) or that the folks who quoted 30k were full of crap (also not unreasonable).
Either way, the main points are that the devices are available for purchase, and they are very expensive. |
