Given his nittyness...

I don't think he's small betting - 3-betting with a draw or small overpair. It doesn't make sense for his nittyness. It seems far more likely he's trying to build a bigger pot for his set.

I like your flop raise, but I'm giving up to the nit's 3-bet. Against most players, I'm happy getting all-in on the flop, but not here.

You cut out a key phrase "against most players". Read the rest of my post again. This player was known as especially nitty. What hands would a nit call PF and lead-3b this flop with?

JJ and QQ come to mind. this guy isnt always repopping pre with QQ and rarely ever w/ JJ, and 11/6 guys play overpairs like the nuts in almost every situation
