I was playing a local .25/.50 cash game this weekend. I bought in for $70.00 and lost half on a bad beat (not happy). About 10 min later I am in middle position with KJs and decide to make a play. I bet out $3 (standard at this game) it is folded around to the BB (tries to steal alot) who pushes all in for $40 I swear a bit and ask if he wants my $3 that bad... Long story short in my tilt induced rage I call with my $35 and tell the owner to get ready for the re-buy. Well the flop is JJ4, and the turn is a K. He turns over AA and turn over my KJ and the tirade starts and doesnt end for 3 hours. Am I really that bad?

KJ is a terrible hand to call an overbet shove with, even when your shortstacked. You beat almost none of his range. Also, rebuy pf.

Obviously you knew the flop had two Jacks.

I've definitely been in your shoes before, but yeah its definitely a serious -EV play, unless he's been a serious maniac pushing all night, and even then you might want a slightly better spot to risk your whole stack on.

Yes calling with this hand really is that bad....bad like jumping out of an airplane with no parachute when you're low enough to live for about a half hour after impact...painful.

Don't fall in love with KJ after this episode. KJ is not a bad hand (especially suited), but you certainly shouldn't be calling a re-raise with it.
In my database, KJs wins me 1.67BB/hand and KJo loses me -0.43BB/hand. |

Let it go, but since you did call, and you did win, congrats.
Jamie Gold called an all in on the final table with KJs. He won that too. Unreal. |
