I realized just now why the $5 per half hour table charge will be more profitable for the house: with the constant rebuying, there is NO WAY that they will get in the 40 or so hands that we're accustomed to. They have almost certainly tested & figured this out. OTOH, it would be a great deal in a SH game or under the right circumstances. [/ QUOTE ] There is no way that the tables average 40 hands per hour. I've counted and counted and counted. On average, (and the dealers are expected but are not held to this) each table is expected to get in 15 hands during each of their 30 minute intervals at the tables. Not every dealer reaches this EVEN WITH THE AUTOMATIC SHUFFLERS. I invite everyone to count the hands next time they play. Now there are some really really fast dealers but they still only get in about 35 hands per hour and that is on the high side. |

What's with this forum? The dates aren't in order, it's difficult to say the least to use, etc etc. Maybe it's me but there's got to be a better way to arrange these threads.

At DERBY LANE with a ten handed table of regular limit holdem, it takes about 22.5 minutes for the button to make its way completely around the table.
Thus, they are not getting 30 hands per hour. I would estimate that they come closer to only getting 20 hands per hour than 30 hands per hour at a full table. |

Yeah its definitely 15-20 per dealer max. 20 if its a fast game and an auto shuffler.

I think autoshufflers will play a MAJOR role in where I play.
AND, a $5 rake is a decent thing compared to the $6 rake in NL games in Indiana and Michigan. |

Do you and everybody else feel paying $10 an hour to play is better than a $6 rake? It probably is but would love to hear comments. |

I don't mind paying the time drop instead of the rake. The room that I play at now charges $5 every hand not a %. If you have a loose style you will be better off paying the time. If you play ultra tight the rake would be better though. Either way the games will be much more beatable than they are now. BTW the time drop in Biloxi is $6 / half hr and very profitable.

[/ QUOTE ] NO NO NO> id much rather pay a $6 rake even a $7 rake. reason? cause im a VERY TIGHT player and hardly play any hands. sometimes i win one pot every 2 hours. which means id pay $6 every 2 hrs--only at times--instead of $20 for the 2 hrs if there was a time charge. sometimes i go more than 2 hrs without winning a pot. u know who the rake hurts? sure aint the tight players. its the ones who play way too many hands, who in turn win alot more than their fair share of pots. tight players HATE time charges. |

Ok, that's what I thought.
Give me the $5 rake then. |
