Thanks everybody. I guess I have no need for buying the original then, and can invest my money in something else.

what if 5-card draw high with the joker becomes the next big thing?

Chip Reese's 7Stud chapter from SS1 makes it worth owning. It's been very helpful, and a pretty easy read compared to 7CSFAP.

In the SS1 NL chapter Doyle states his style of play doesn't work very well in games comprised of players with short stacks. That short stack players are more prone to waiting for big hands and then pushing all-in. I think he was also eluding to decreased implied odds with the absence of big stacks at the table.

I believe this paragraph was deleted, without explanation, from SS2 nor is there an updated discussion of this topic.

With all the people that still buy SS1 - you would think that there would be some curiosity about playing some of those "dead" games.

Based on flipping through the Caro chapter alone - simply out of curiosity - I'd love to play a little 5CD with the joker.

WHAT? NOOOOOO.

Oh well, it's nice to have it in real paper so I don't destroy my eyes with gamma and whatnot.
